A Natural Way to Keep the Bugs Away

As we welcome spring and summer, I've been getting lots of questions about Soulshine Naturals Bug Spray. With tick season in full swing, many of us are looking for ways to enjoy the outdoors with a little extra peace of mind. That's exactly why I created this plant-powered bug spray—a simple, non-toxic addition to your outdoor routine.

What's in It?

Soulshine Naturals Bug Spray starts with a thoughtfully chosen blend of essential oils, including peppermint, cedarwood, lemongrass, tea tree, and citronella. To that, I add witch hazel, nourishing jojoba oil, and neem oil.

These ingredients have long been valued for their naturally strong aromas, which may help deter insects, including ticks. Whether you're hiking, spending time at a show, camping, or simply relaxing in your backyard, this bug spray is a natural companion for all your outdoor adventures.

Why Choose a Natural Alternative?

Many conventional bug sprays contain ingredients that can be harsh on both our skin and the environment. Soulshine Naturals Bug Spray is made with simple, plant-based ingredients, offering a non-toxic option for those looking to avoid synthetic chemicals.

It's a gentle, effective addition to your outdoor essentials—crafted with ingredients you can feel good about using.

FAQ:

Does it repel ticks?

While I can't guarantee that it will repel every tick or insect, the essential oils in this blend are commonly used in natural outdoor products. Cedarwood, peppermint, and citronella, in particular, have shown promise in helping deter ticks. Combined with lemongrass and tea tree, this creates a powerful botanical blend for outdoor use.

Is it safe for children?

Essential oils are generally not recommended for infants under 3 months old. For young children, it's always best to use caution and choose properly diluted products. Soulshine Naturals Bug Spray is formulated at a gentle dilution of approximately 0.5–0.7%.

As always, consult your healthcare provider if you have any questions about using essential oils with children.

Can I use it on pets?

At this time, I do not recommend using this bug spray on pets. Animals can be much more sensitive to essential oils than humans. I'm continuing to research safe options for our furry friends, so stay tuned.

Essential Oil Safety Disclaimer

While research suggests that essential oils may offer certain benefits, the FDA does not monitor or regulate the purity or quality of essential oils. It's important to research the brands you use and consult with a healthcare professional before incorporating essential oils into your routine.

Always perform a patch test before using a new product, and never apply undiluted essential oils directly to the skin.

Why I Love It

I created this bug spray because I wanted something that truly worked for my lifestyle. I spend a lot of time outdoors—walking in the woods, camping, attending concerts, and exploring nature.

When I use this spray, I've noticed a big difference, especially with gnats and other small bugs. They seem to keep their distance, which makes my outdoor adventures much more enjoyable. And despite spending plenty of time off the beaten path, I haven't had any tick encounters this year.

I also love how it feels on my skin. It's lightweight, non-greasy, and doesn't leave behind a sticky film. Plus, the earthy, fresh aroma from the essential oils smells absolutely amazing.
